I. Phrase or Sentence

Tick the correct circle. P stands for phrase, S for sentence.

II. Punctuation and Sentence Types

Rewrite each sentence correctly. Also say whether the sentence is Assertive, Interrogative, Exclamatory, or Imperative.

1. how hot the sun is

4. what a lovely doll it is -> What a lovely doll it is! (Exclamatory)
5. who teaches you english -> Who teaches you English? (Interrogative)
6. obey your parents and teachers -> Obey your parents and teachers. (Imperative)
7. the first day of the week is sunday -> The first day of the week is Sunday. (Assertive)
8. what is the first month of the year -> What is the first month of the year? (Interrogative)
9. a sentence begins with a capital letter -> A sentence begins with a capital letter. (Assertive)
10. december is the last month of the year -> December is the last month of the year. (Assertive)

III. Interrogative Form

Rewrite each sentence in the interrogative form.

1. It rained last night. -> Did it rain last night?
2. It is raining outside. -> Is it raining outside?
3. It has rained all night. -> Has it rained all night?
4. It will rain in the evening. -> Will it rain in the evening?
5. It rains every day on the hills. -> Does it rain every day on the hills?

IV. Jumbled Words

Put the words in the correct order to make a sentence.

1. The / milk / cow / us / gives -> The cow gives us milk.
2. The / the / in / east / Sun / Rises -> The sun rises in the east.
3. a / was / great / Gandhiji / man -> Gandhiji was a great man.
4. those / are / girls / what / doing? -> What are those girls doing?

V. Exclamatory Form

Rewrite each sentence in the exclamatory form.

1. The sun is very hot. -> How hot the sun is!
2. She looked very lovely. -> How lovely she looked!
3. This mountain is very high. -> How high the mountain is!
4. The Taj looks very beautiful. -> How beautiful the Taj looks!
5. These children are very naughty. -> How naughty these children are!

VI. Assertive Form

Rewrite each sentence in an assertive form.

1. How kind the God is! -> God is very kind.
2. How tall that girl is! -> That girl is very tall.
3. How big our country is! -> Our country is very big.
4. How cruel the king was! -> The king was cruel.
5. How sweet these mangos are! -> These mangos are very sweet.
