Chapter 2: Diversity in living world organisms.
Answer the following questions
1) What do you understand by biodivercity?
Ans-
i) Biodivercity means the variety of diffrent living things of earth
ii) It includes plants, animals and microorganisms.
iii) It includes all the diffrent organisms and the varietys of habitats where they live.
2) Do all plants have roots? are these roots similar?
Ans-
i) Genrally, all plants have roots.
ii) However, these roots are not similar.
iii) Roots are mainly of two types i.e. Tap roots and Fibrous roots.
3) Diffrenciate between tap roots and fibrous roots
Ans-

4) Explain the types of venation with suitable examples.
Ans-
i) Venation is the arangement of veins and veinlets in the leaf.
ii) There are two main type of venation Reticulate venation and Parllel venation
iii) Reticulate venation: In this type of venation veins from a net like pattern on the dicot leaf. it is comonly found in dicot plants.
iv) Parallel venation: In this type veins run parallel to each other from the base to the tip of th leaf. It is commonly found in monocot plants. examples: grass, wheat.
5) Why is the camel called the “ship of the dessert”?
Ans-
i) It has flat, broad feet for walking on sand.
ii) It can travel long distance without water
iii) It carries peoples and heavy loads acros the desserts
iv) It provides transport in areas where vehicles cannot go.
v) It helps people cross the dessert like a ship crosses water.
6) Describe the vegetations of hot desserts.
Ans-
i) Plants are adapted to survive with very little water.
ii) Mostly thorny bushes, shrubs, and cacti are found in hot dessert.
iii) Leaves are reduce to spines to reduce water loss.
iv) Thick fleshy stem stores water ex. cactus.
v) Roots are long or spread widely to absorb water quickly.
7) Diffrenciate between cold dessert and hot dessert camel.
