Chapter 7 Mensuration Class 10 Maharashtra Board  TextBook Solution

Practice set 7.1 | Q 11 | Page 145

Find the surface area and the
volume of a beach ball shown in the
figure

fig 7.14

Answer:-

Radius of the beach ball, r = (42/2) = 21 cm

Surface area of the beach ball, S = 4πr² = 4 x 3.14 x (21)² = 5538.96 cm²

Volume of the beach ball, V = (4/3)πr³ = (4/3) x 3.14 x (21)³ = 38772.72 cm³

Thus, the surface area and volume of the beach ball are 5538.96 cm² and 38772.72 cm³, respectively.

Solution
Radius of the beach ball, $$r=frac{42}{2}=21$$ cm
Surface area of the beach ball, $$S=4pi r^2=4times 3.14times(21)^2=5538.96$$ cm$$^2$$
Volume of the beach ball, $$V=frac{4}{3}pi r^3=frac{4}{3}times 3.14times (21)^3=38772.72$$ cm$$^3$$
Thus, the surface area and volume of the beach ball are $$5538.96$$ cm$$^2$$ and $$38772.72$$ cm$$^3$$, respectively.
