Find the Distance Between the Following Pair of Point. W ( − 7/ 2 , 4 ) , X ( 11 , 4 )

Find the distance between the following pairs of point.

\[W\left( \frac{- 7}{2} , 4 \right), X\left( 11, 4 \right)\]

Answer

\[W\left( \frac{-7}{2} , 4 \right), X\left( 11, 4 \right)\]

\[WX = \sqrt{\left( \frac{- 7}{2} - 11 \right)^2 + \left( 4 - 4 \right)^2} = \sqrt{\left( \frac{- 29}{2} \right)^2}\]

\[ = \sqrt{\frac{841}{4}}\]

\[ = \frac{29}{2}\]

Explanation:-

To find the distance between points W and X, we use the distance formula:

distance = sqrt((x2 – x1)^2 + (y2 – y1)^2)

Substituting the values of W and X, we get:

distance = sqrt((11 – (-7/2))^2 + (4 – 4)^2)

distance = sqrt((11 + 7/2)^2)

distance = sqrt((29/2)^2)

distance = 29/2

Therefore, the distance between points W(-7/2, 4) and X(11, 4) is 29/2 units.
